“Love with Leila treads the oft-told tale of love and loss in a completely unique way, tickling you with plenty of laughs and leaving you with a powerful punch of a message-that the one person really worth loving may be a lot closer than you think.I dare you not to fall in love with Leila. This is an absolute Fringe must-see.”

Why I am in love with Izad – and Leila:
I first met Izad when I directed him in a production of Little Shop of Horrors out in Victoria BC. I was looking forward to seeing where this talented young performer would head. I had no idea at the time that I would eventually become his director and dramaturge on Love with Leila! Here we have a Persian – Canadian man playing a bearded, hijab-wearing Persian woman now living in Canada, who takes the audience on a laughter and heart –filled journey toward loving and honouring ourselves and others.
This is theatrical Zeitgeist wrapped and presented with marvelous humour and love!
I adore the intimacy of the collaboration when working on a solo show. Izad and I now share a creative short hand which continues to allow the show to develop and grow.
Leila creates a tangible connection with her audience. She even manages to get the entire audience up on stage dancing together at every performance. Izad is a bit of a phenom in my books. I am delighted to be working with him on this hilarious and touching show.
